Hi I’m Carl Petersen

An Internationally Recognized Registered Physiotherapist & Fitness Coach to Athletes Worldwide

Carl is a renowned and sought-after physiotherapist, fitness coach and speaker, most notably in the ski and tennis communities. He has lectured on 6 Continents and is regularly found educating physicians, physiotherapists, coaches and athletes around the world on the principles of keeping Fit to Play ™. He has written a number of critically acclaimed books and produced other resources including DVDs and My Pocket Coach Fitness. His works have been translated into numerous languages.  He has also written guest chapters for several books and written several hundred articles for a variety of magazines and websites for both scientific and lay audiences.

After his graduation from UBC in Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy he started his career being selected as the first Sport Physiotherapist Fellow at the renowned Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Clinic at UBC in Vancouver. Over his career, Carl has traveled with, treated, trained and designed programs for numerous athletes including Olympic and National level athletes that have included Gold-Medalists in several sports. Notably he travelled as the dedicated physiotherapist and fitness coach with the Canadian National/Olympic Ski Team for 13 years. In 2007 Carl was the recipient of the Physiotherapy Association of BC “Award of Excellence for Clinical Contribution.” He was named “Best of the Best Knee Physiotherapists” by Ski Canada Magazine. He is regularly consulted by local and National media and has had numerous TV appearances. His exercise "Petersen Step Ups" are prominent online being utilized by numerous trainers & professionals worldwide recognized as an important exercise in knee & hip rehabilitation and stability training.

He is also Certified as a Level 3 CSCF Ski Coach, Level 2 CSIA Instructor, Level 2 Tennis Coach (Canada) & a Level 4 NCCP (candidate). He was born in New Westminster, Canada and has spent prolonged amounts of time on all continents. He currently resides between Vancouver, Canada and Dobrota, Montenegro with many International stops in between.  He stays Fit to Play™ on the tennis courts, ski slopes and golf course.
